INTERNET FOR CLOUD COMPUTING

WHAT INTERNET DO YOU NEED TO MOVE TO CLOUD SOFTWARE?

There is 1 Question you must ask any Cloud Software provider. Read on to find out what that question is!

We are seeing a lot of inquiries along these lines....

Caller: Hi We run a Real Estate Agency and we have moved to Cloud Based Software and our whole office internet is running so slowly.

Telaustralia: I think we can help you. How many people do you have in the office?

Caller: 7 Staff.

Telaustralia: Are you currently running ADSL 2 Internet?

Caller: Yes and we are getting about 10mb download speed and about 700kbps upload speed.

Telaustralia: We think the problem is that because ADSL 2 Internet has a maximum upload speed of 1Mb, this is causing the issue. You don't have sufficient upload bandwidth available to you. You probably need SHDSL internet.

Caller: How much does that cost?

Telaustralia: $300-$500 a month is fairly typical for a SHDSL internet connection.

Caller: We cant afford that much! We have just outlaid many thousands of dollars for this new software.

If this scenario sounds familiar its because the massive uptake of Cloud and Web based software platforms is strangling the typical ADSL 2 Internet upload capacity.

So before making any decision to move to Cloud based Software ask this 1 critical question. What Internet connection do you recommend to run your software?

If the answer is SHDSL budget another $300 a month in data costs over and above your ADSL connection and include this in any business case.

The alternative is that your business could end up paying a lot of money for software that doesn't perform at its optimum, especially if there is no SHDSL option available to you.

THE TOP 4 SHDSL INTERNET APPLICATIONS

THE TOP 4 SHSDL INTERNET APPLICATIONS

You can get an ADSL internet connection for $60 a month. Why go and spend $360 on a SHDSL Internet connection?

We its mainly to do with 2 things.

1. Fast Upload Speed. ADSL 2 is limited to 1Mb upload speeds. On SHDSL Upload speeds of up to 80Mb are available. Which means you can send lots of data ...Fast.

2. Low Contention. ADSL 2 can be very contended. Lot of users sharing your connection make it it slow and unreliable. With a SHDSL you get 100% of the available bandwidth so there is no slow downs caused by bandwidth hogs in your area.

So what does this mean? Well it means you have a very fast and reliable Internet connection for your business which allows you do so lots more than with ADSL....

HERE'S OUR TOP 4 USES FOR SHDSL.

1. CLOUD BASED SERVICES.

Using Cloud based services (think Xero, MYOB, Google Mail, Office 365, Sugar and other CRMs) is an incredibly poor experience over ADSL if there is multiple users at your site. Cloud services are typically web based, meaning each time you enter data your are uploading, not downloading information. If this is running slowly, who's getting any work done. All of a sudden the extra $300 a month starts to look a like a bargain.

2. REMOTE ACCESS.

You have staff that are located off site and they need to log into you local server. Each time they log in the server has to send or upload the information to them. Using ADSL for remote access is incredibly slow because the ADSL is restricted to sending info at a maximum 1Mb and most connections run way slower than that. Think of the poor productivity you are getting out of those remote staff. The whole point of remote staff in most cases is to improve productivity isn't it?

3. VIDEO CONFERENCING.

With Video Conferencing over SHDSL you can get incredibly high resolution video when compared to ADSL. There is no comparison and with some cheap and simple hardware and software, you've just saved on travel time for that 1hr trip to visit the customer, site or branch office or even saved on that interstate trip.

4. VOICE

With a SHDSL connection you can run multiple voice calls simultaneously used a Hosted Voice or SIP trunks. To give some comparison, Telstra ISDN 30 is the gold standard for voice traffic in Australia. This allows for 30 calls at a time. Telstra run these services over a 2mb/2mb SHDSL connection. Imagine what you can do with a 10mb/10mb or 30mb/30mb connection. How many Telstra lines can you pull out that are costing you $40 per month each?

SHDSL makes sense really

When you add up the technologies you can replace with a quality SHDSL connection it starts to look incredibly cheap doesn't it?

WHAT IS MID-BAND ETHERNET SHDSL?

WHAT IS MID-BAND ETHERNET?

Telaustralia provides SHDSL over 3 networks. AAPT Network SHDSL is know as Mid-band Ethernet and the following describes what it is, how it works and what its used for.

Mid-band Ethernet provides incredibly fast network access using legacy copper infrastructure. It uses multiple copper pairs bonded together into a single Ethernet Link that can support Symmetric Speeds up to 80Mbps. This provides significantly better speed, reliability and flexibility than legacy ADSL connections without the build cost of a fibre connection.

In addition because Mid-Band Ethernet provides a symmetrical service, it provides the upload and downloads speeds that are increasingly important to business and vital for Cloud based services.

Mid-Band Ethernet (MBE) achieves its incredible speeds by bonding up to 8 copper pairs into a single but inherently powerful and reliable network connection. Should one or more copper pairs fail, the remaining pairs continue to provide connectivity keeping business online and in operation.

In many cases high bandwidth fibre is not readily available to business premises with out larger up front construction costs and very long lead times. Mid-Band Ethernet leverages the copper that is already connected to most business minimizing connection costs and cutting lead times to as little as 17 days.

Why use Mid-Band Ethernet?

  • MBE provides flexible and equal symmetric upload and download speeds vital for cloud based services such as Google Mail, Sales Force, Sugar, Office 365 and other web based services
  • It provides significantly higher uploads speeds than ADSL with out the build costs of fibre.
  • Excellent reliability and resilience through multiple bonded pairs
  • Low set up costs - in most cases installation is free on a 24mth agreement.
