CAPPED INTERNET PLANS @ TELAUSTRALIA
If you have had an ADSL plan where you are given a small monthly download
allowance you have probably had a case of Bill Shock at some stage. Bill shock
is where you expect to get a bill for $29.95 but find you have a bill for $95
because you used 500mb more than your monthly download allowance. Telaustralia
is one of the first ISPs in Australia to offer Capped Internet plans. With a
capped Internet Plan you pay a pre set amount as a monthly access fee with an
included download allowance. If you go over the monthly download allowance you
pay a per Megabyte fee until you reach a pre determined capped charge amount.
After that there is no additional charges no matter how much you download and
you can download right up the maximum download allowance. Our capped Internet
plans are suitable if you have intermittent heavy use and don’t want to pay huge
monthly fees or run up excessive download charges.
CAPPED INTERNET PRICING – HOW IT WORKS
As an example, Bob runs a busy bakery from his home office but isn’t a heavy
Internet user. He chooses our 512KBPSbps/128KBPSbps Capped Internet Plan, which
is normally $40 per month, and Bob usually remains within the download limits.
His son who runs his own business comes to stay and uses the Internet a lot
while he is at Bobs Home. Instead of his normal 3-400Mb usage, which is included
in his monthly fee, Bob’s usage increases to 1.5gigabytes for the month, which
is an excess of 1000Mb.With his old provider Bob would have been charged 1000
X 15c per Mb (excess charges) or a whopping $150 plus his $29.95 monthly fee.
With his telaustralia Capped Internet Plan Bob is only charged $90 in total.
This represents a saving of nearly $90 in just a single month of use.

CAPPED BUSINESS ADSL Q&A
Q. What if I already have a modem?
A. If you already have a modem then you
probably already have a DSL service with another provider. In this case you can
“fast-churn” your service to us for free if you join on any 24 month DSL plan.
In most cases you can use your existing modem by changing the settings.
Q.
How do I change my modem settings?
A. Our technical support representatives
have a good understanding of the most common modem brands and models. If they
can’t help you the manufacturer of your modem should be able to.
Q. How long
will it take to connect my service?
A. Most new services can be connected
within 7 days. If you’re moving from another provider it can take as little as
48 hours.
Q. Can I keep my existing e-mail address?
If you have an e-mail
address ending with the domain of your service provider (such as
joebloggs@bigpond.com or joebloggs@optusnet.com you will not be able to keep
your e-mail address. You can choose a new e-mail address, which will be
youremailaddress@telaustralia.com.au. You can have unlimited (within reason)
telaustralia email address’s at no additional charge.
Q. What if I want to
change my DSL service within the contract period?
A. You can change the speed
of your service at any point within your contract. A small administration fee
will apply.
Q. What if I want to cancel my DSL service within the contract
period?
A. You will be charged a termination fee dependent on the length of
contract and the number of months remaining on your contract.
Q. What happens
if I use more than my included allowance on a capped Plan?
A. If you go over
your included download allowance you will be charged for any excess usage at 15c
per megabyte until you reach the capped limit. After that there is no further
charge.
Q. So if I use more than I expect I could run up a huge bill?
A.
Our plans are capped so you know the maximum that you’ll ever have to pay in a
month, no matter how much you use the service.
Q. How can I check how much
I’ve downloaded?
A. From April you’ll be able to check your usage on line by
visiting www.telaustralia.com.au and selecting the “View your Bill”
option.
Q. So once I’ve reached my cap I can just keep downloading at the
same speed?
A. We apply an acceptable usage policy (AUP) to our plans. Once
these (very generous) limits are reached your connection will be slowed to just
above dial-up speed for the rest of the month. Your speed is then returned to
normal at the beginning of the next month.
Q. Do I need to bring my fixed
line across to benefit from this offer?
A. No. This offer is available to
stand-alone DSL customers. However, you may be eligible for further offers if
you choose to also bring your fixed-line service across. Our sales
representative will give you more details.
Q. What if I move house / office
before the end of the contract period?
A. We can help you to relocate your
service to your new premises. A re-location fee will apply.
O. I’m happy with
my dial-up connection
A. Our broadband plans start from as little as $27.95
per month. That’s only a little higher than most dial-up plans for a service
that’s 5 times faster.
What’s more broadband internet is always on so you
don’t get charged for local calls to dial-up to the internet. If you’re checking
your e-mails twice a day you could be paying up to $12 a month in dial-up call
charges. This is a cost you won’t have if you move to broadband.
